Diesel S.P.A. is an Italian designer company founded in 1978 by Renzo Rosso and Adriano Goldschmied. The two men had a vision for creating quality clothing for the youth around the world. Of these 300 outlets, nearly 200 are solely owned by Diesel and the others are in partnership with the local distribution network.
Diesel’s core business comes from denim clothing. Diesel is part of a trend-setting small group of denim brands such as Paper, Denim & Cloth, Rock and Republic, True Religion and Seven for all Mankind. Most of its production is outsourced to small and medium sized companies.
The Diesel name has been licensed to many companies to manufacture jewellery, leather goods, footwear, fragrances and accessories. In 2007, Diesel ventured into new territory by launching its beachwear division and underwear range for men and women. The license for underwear has been awarded to the American company Mast Industries Inc. which also manufactures the world renowned line Victoria’s Secret. A new luxury denim range, Black Gold, was also launched in 2007.
