Brother International Ltd is a leading manufacturer of a wide variety of products with a presence in more than a hundred countries. The company was started in London in 1959 but eventually shifted base to Manchester after taking over the Jones Sewing Machine Company in 1968. Brother manufactures many types of fax machines, sewing and embroidery equipment, consumable products like laser supplies and computer-related products. The company is best known for its printers and considered as a pioneer in the printer industry.

Brother printers can broadly be classified into two types – colour laser printers and mono laser printers. One of the colour laser printers from Brother is the HL-4040CN, which is a high speed network-ready colour laser printer. Weighing only 24.2 pounds, this is one of the lightest multipurpose machines. This printer can print up to 20 pages per minute (ppm) in colour and in black and white. It features an auto-document feeder and even includes a fax machine.

The Brother printer HL-4050CDN is a fast colour laser printer with automatic duplex printing. It is used for printing professional reports, presentations and booklets, since it can produce double-sided outputs quickly and efficiently. The Brother printer HL-4070CDW is a wireless printer. It offers a secure SSL encryption and is ideally shared by several Wi-Fi enabled computers within a network.

There are several types and brands of mono laser printers sold by Brother. The HL-8050N mono laser printer can be connected to a network so that several computers can access it. An entry level mono Brother printer is the HL-2030. Like other Brother printers, it is easy to use and ideal for small offices. The HL-2040 is a compact monochrome laser printer that delivers up to 20ppm. It is compatible with Windows as well as the Mac operating systems. Designed to fit in small spaces, this compact printer takes up minimal desk space. Another compact printer is the HL-2150N, which provides prints of a professional quality at 22ppm with a maximum resolution of 2400 x 600dpi.

Brother also offers several wireless mono laser printers such as the HL-2170W, which is network-ready. The HL-5250DN has an interesting feature called Automatic Duplex Printing, which means it can print documents on both sides of the paper simultaneously. Another model, the HL-7050N, also supports the duplex mode, which results in faster printouts and increased productivity.
