HP Designjet is a printer series manufactured by the Californian based PC giant Hewlett-Packard. This multi-billion dollar company was founded in a garage by Stanford graduates William Hewlett and David Packard. As the story goes, they flipped a coin in order to decide if the company would be called Hewlett-Packard or Packard-Hewlett. Packard won the toss but he subsequently named their electronics company the Hewlett-Packard Company (HP). HP recently became the first IT company in the world to declare revenues in excess of 100 billion dollars.
Some of its most successful products have been the printers it has manufactured and of these the HP Designjet is noteworthy. Used all over the world, the HP Designjet comes in many styles, designs and specifications. Essentially a wide-format printer, some of the models have the unique ability to print on absolutely anything, from a tiny 3-inch sheaf of paper to a large 2-foot roll. Some HP Designjet models come with sophisticated controls on the printer that allow the user to modify almost any setting of their choice.
Most of the HP Designjet printers are relatively easy to set up and install, which is probably why HP has installation instructions given in the form of pictures and diagrams, instead of text. However, if people wish to use the printer on a network and spread its capabilities over several PCs, then instructions are always given as text.
HP Designjet printers are ideal for home and office use. Setting up most of the HP Designjet models is fairly simple and most come with USB and parallel ports, and installation drivers for the Mac and PC. To be on the safe side, most people prefer to download the latest drivers from the HP site. On their site, you can get the latest updates and patches along with any help and assistance you require. HP help and customer support are considered to be among the best in the world.
