Canon is synonymous with excellence and precision. Canon has given the world its EOS series of digital SLR (single lens reflex) cameras that has revolutionized the way people shoot pictures. EOS -- short for Electro Optical System – is a smart camera that helps you take great pictures. It has a fully electronic mount system that gives total control between various camera lenses, the body and the entire intricate electronic system -- a new generation of AF SLR cameras that offer the user both manual and automatic controls.
The first of the series -- EOS 650 AF SLR – was a film camera introduced in 1987 on Canon’s 50th anniversary. Since then the company has introduced nearly 40 models of the Canon EOS digital series, into the market. The first of the EOS Rebel series introduced in1990 redefined user-friendliness.
Let’s take a look at some common features of all Canon EOS cameras.
Eye-controlled focusing (ECF) selects auto focus points based on movements of the eyeball in the viewfinder frame -- especially useful for moving targets like sporting action, birds in the sky and wildlife.
Quick control dial: A QCD on the back allows quick scrolling access to most used functions with a thumb and the main dial with the forefinger, which would otherwise call for complicated button-presses and dial-clicks. QCD includes features like aperture settings in manual exposure mode, exposure compensation, and scrolling of images and menus in digital EOS cameras.
Multi-point autofocus system: Canon EOS boasts 7 to 9 autofocus points to give the user a sharp image to capture moving subjects with ease and accuracy. Some of the auto focus points already identifies the subject and captures it at the click. Those who wish to rely on their own judgement however can select an AF point manually too.
Canon EOS features a highly sensitive CMOS sensor that supports a wide range of ISO speeds to compensate for shifting lighting conditions, to capture millions of megapixels at a high speed and low image noise. The CMOS sensor combined with the Canon DIGIC image processor, enhance the Canon EOS camera’s performance by eliminating stray light and off colours, improve battery performance and make the camera more agile and responsive.
Be it an amateur, a semi professional, the professional or even the super pro, there are several Canon EOS digital cameras to choose from
