The Digital IXUS is a series of ultra compact, point and shoot cameras manufactured by Canon, based on its IXUS/IXY/ELPH line of APS cameras. Banking on its expertise in making quality film cameras, Canon produced high quality compact digital cameras and used the popular brand name IXUS. The IXUS line of digital cameras is sold in US and Canada as PowerShot Digital ELPH and as IXY Digital in Japan.

The first Digital IXUS was launched with a body similar to the IXUS II and incorporated the technology of the PowerShot S10. Canon started using SD cards instead of CF cards in around 2003 that allowed making sleeker cameras.
