The Style Series includes the S51, the S51C, the S210, the S520, the S550, the S600 and the S700, and the Life Series comprises the L16 model.
Nikon has been developing cutting-edge imaging technology for almost a century and this has made the company a leader in the international market. Nikon has a 90-year history of innovation and ground-breaking achievements. True to its global brand statement, “At the heart of the image”, Nikon provides imaging solutions for constantly evolving photographic needs.
The Nikon COOLPIX series is based on two important features – EXPEED and NIKKOR. EXPEED is at the heart of the digitalisation breakthroughs achieved at Nikon. It is a customisable digital image processing system that provides excellent image quality. NIKKOR lenses are based on the finest precision optics and mechanisms standardised at Nikon. Each COOLPIX camera comes fitted with NIKKOR lenses that produce razor sharp images with superb colour. NIKKOR lenses are highly acclaimed by photographers worldwide.
The COOLPIX series boasts state-of-the-art technology such as VR Image Stabilisation for optimum performance. The Vibration Reduction technology ensures blur-free results in unsteady conditions. It senses shaky movements and applies appropriate corrections. Even in low-light conditions when the shutter speed is slow, VR automatically corrects blurring resulting from unsteady hands. Shooting close-ups invariably causes blurring, which can also be corrected by VR.
For achieving excellent portrait results, special innovations are incorporated in COOLPIX cameras. These are AF, or auto-focusing, on faces, automatic red-eye compensation and D-light for correcting excess contrast on underexposed shots or when there is too much backlight. The HIGH ISO feature provides higher shutter speeds for better pictures in low-light conditions. Even fast moving subjects can be captured sharply without extended exposures.
Some other interesting features offered by COOLPIX include Pictmotion and the wireless image transfer technology. Audio-visual shows can be created with Pictmotion, offering easy-to-use menus. You can even include sound tracks in your slide shows. The built-in Wi-Fi units in COOLPIX cameras allow wireless access to “My Picturetown”. This simplifies activities such as picture storage and uploading images to the Internet.
