The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ18 camera has defining features like the massive 18x optical zoom and 8.1 megapixel resolution that enable you to capture virtually every imaginable photograph with great detail. At first glance, the DMC-FZ18 looks like a SLR but it features a non-interchangeable lens, unlike the ordinary digital SLR. It is a versatile camera that features a 2.5-inch wide LCD screen for easy reviewing of shots. This camera also features an optical image stabiliser and ISO 1600 to minimise blur and frame-to-frame jitters caused by camera shake. The smart Intelligent Auto mode technology sets the most appropriate image settings for the situation automatically. For instance, there is no need to set the aperture and shutter speed in low-light conditions as the camera does this on its own. The Leica lens enables excellent picture clarity.

The latest in this series is the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX500 that features a touch-screen operation on a three-inch wide LCD. Offering a 10.1 megapixel resolution, this camera comes with a hybrid control system with both touch-screen and joystick control. One of the slim yet stylish models from Panasonic, the DMC-FX500 features a 25mm wide-angle Leica lens with a 5x optical zoom. The camera comes with an Intelligent Auto mode that automatically sets exposure settings and digital red-eye correction. In addition to this, the DMC-FX500 also features a mega optical image stabiliser, ISO 1600-6400, Scene Selector, Face Detection and Quick AF (auto-focus) functions. The Quick AF system minimises the auto focus time to give you the best results while you are taking pictures.

The built-in HD (high-definition) motion picture recording and HD component output enrich your recording experience with the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX500, and give you enhanced visual clarity and better reproduction of colours. The slideshow is complemented with music. To make the organising of images simpler, a new user-friendlymenu is provided. By scrolling the thumbnails located below the main window, you can choose and edit the image using the touch menu interface.
