Denon is a leading Japanese electronics company specialising in hi-fi audio systems. The brand name is derived from Denki Onkyo, one of the parent companies. Denon pioneered the manufacturing of twin deck DJ CD player the DN-2000F for club DJs.
From manufacturing world-class audio systems, Denon branched out into making the first DVD player, DVD-2000, in the mid-nineties. By the beginning of 2000, Denon had launched its first DVD player with the Silicon Images “progressive scan processor” called the DVD-2800.
By 2004, Denon had launched the DVD-A1XV, its high-end DVD player with “Hollywood Quality Video”. This DVD player featured a technology based on a very expensive Teranex USA HDTV broadcast-standard processor, all integrated into a single chip. It ensured a smooth, clean and high-definition viewing experience.
The DVD-A1XV was the world’s first player to use high precision 10-bit scaler technology. This technology was for carrying out the optimum conversion that suited the output of HDMI and DVI transmitters. It also made use of the highly advanced AL24 processing technology for superior clarity and high fidelity. It had built-in Dolby Digital, DTS and DVD-Audio, and SACD decoders with 5.1 analogue output.
Denon DVD players are reputed for providing a great surround sound experience. The use of the Digital Theatre System further enhances the quality of the surround sound. Denon DVD players are certified by Fuji, which ensures that colours are not distorted. It is also Kodak Picture CD compatible.
Denon DVD players also have a high definition multimedia interface or HDMI that transfers non-compressed digital video and audio signals directly through a single connector, making it possible to have fewer cables for picture and sound. It is also compatible with HDCP, a technology that protects copyrights encrypting digital video signals.
Denon DVD players can play MP3 file formats too. The players have a progressive scan technology that improves conventional applications for providing sharper images that retain the original colours.
The Denon DVD player has WMA. This is an audio compression format that gives the highest quality sound, equalling that of an original CD. It also makes use of a technology called the DCDi that removes the jagged edges in a picture that are apparent in a conventional up-converter.
Over the years, Denon DVD players have earned the reputation of being reliable and excellent players, providing great picture and sound quality. They are recognised for their uncompromising standards of quality, durability and innovation. Today, Denon has built a reputation of being a world-class manufacturer of entertainment electronics.
