Developed by Griffin Technology, iTrip is an FM transmitter that can be used as an accessory to the iPod or the MP3 Player. The device, when plugged into the iPod starts converting the audio to FM radio signals. These signals can be picked up by any civilian FM radio. The device has the ability to transmit signals to a distance of about 15 feet with the frequencies between 76 to 108 MHz.
Various models of the iTrip have been released. Some of the most popular ones are iTrip, iTrip PSP, iTrip Black, iTrip with LCD, iTrip mini, iTrip Auto and iTrip with dock connectors. iTrip is the most popular model and the pack contains the main cylindrical unit, remote connector and the headphone jack. The frequency can be controlled through the iPod itself or one has to simply random tune their FM receiver. The iTrip comes with software that adds play lists to the iTunes in a special set of tones.
