Split air conditioners are useful when you do not want to block a window or simply when the noisy compressor unit needs to be installed away from the room. Another advantage is that often a single but powerful cooling unit can cool two rooms by pumping air into them through separate air ducts.
A central air conditioner works in the same way as a split air conditioner. The only difference is that the entire house can be cooled with one unit which is placed outside the house. This type of air conditioner works well over an entire building and when the weather is really hot. However, central air conditioners are comparatively expensive
