Emilio Estevez is a talented actor, producer, director and writer. He was born on 12 May, 1962, in New York to the famous actor Martin Sheen and artist Janet. Actors Ramón Luis Estevez, Charlie Sheen and Renée Estevez are his siblings. Even as a child, Emilio was extremely creative and he took to writing short stories and poems. On his eleventh birthday, his parents gave him a portable movie camera and so began his love of film making. Emilio Estevez started making home movies featuring his family and friends and started acting in school plays to explore his acting talent.
Emilio Estevez received his first professional role in the movie Apocalypse Now, which also featured his father. However, the small role was edited out. In his senior year in high school he wrote a play, Echoes of an Era. He also got to work with his father again on stage in the play, Mr. Roberts. After graduating from high school in 1980, he landed himself a role in the ABC After-school Special, Seventeen Going on Nowhere. Emilio decided to use Estevez as his last name in show business instead of Sheen which was used by his father. He got his big break in the movie Tex in 1982 which also starred Matt Dillon. His movie career took off in the 1980s when he featured in movies such as The Outsiders (1983), Repo Man (1984), The Breakfast Club (1985), That Was Then... This Is Now (1985), St. Elmo’s Fire (1985), Maximum Overdrive (1986) and Young Guns (1988).
