Apple’s iPod touch is one step ahead of the iPhone, as it allows you to connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi wireless networking. The iPod touch comes with a touch screen instead of the Click Wheel. It also has the mobile version of the portable iTunes store – the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store. So, while you are on the move and want to pick a song track, you can do it immediately on the iPod touch. With Apple and Starbucks in partnership, in select Starbucks locations you can browse through the featured Starbucks’ collections and purchase songs via Wi-Fi.
On your iPod touch, you can look up the top ten music categories, run through the featured new releases and the iTunes Wi-Fi Music Store recommendations. When the iPod touch is in vertical mode, you also have the Search function to filter your selection by artist, song or album. You can turn the player horizontally to check out the Cover Flow feature. Cover Flow puts your songs in alphabetical order. Using the latest user technology, you can move through the covers with your finger to see the track list. You can also transfer your list of songs from your PC to the iPod touch. All you need to do once you have finished moving the tracks is to directly unplug the iPod touch from the computer.
The iPod touch is not just for music. You can use it to check emails, find your way through maps, and move across various web applications. And if you’ve been an iPhone user, the navigation buttons are pretty similar. The iPod touch is much like a PC on the move. Rather than a music device that “acts” like a computer, it is more like a PC that can “act” like a music player. Once it gets software support, the iPod touch will virtually be a handheld computer.
iPod touch also impresses because of its appearance. It is thinner than the iPhone or the iVideo and is more comfortable to carry in your pocket. Similar to the screen resolution of iPhone, the 3.5-inch iPod touch widescreen has a resolution of 480 x 320 pixels with 163 pixels per inch, providing deeper and darker colour saturation. In the video settings, you can adjust Start Playing, Closed Captioning, Widescreen/Full Screen, and choose between NTSC or PAL formats.
Finally, the iPod touch has a great double-click feature. By tapping on the player button twice, you can make the music control appear in Safari or YouTube screen mode.
