The Samsung P2 created quite a sensation when it was first announced by Samsung a few months ago. This slim, touch-screen based MP3 player with a near button-free design and Bluetooth capabilities, had the music buffs waiting impatiently for its release in the market. The P2 has lived up to its expectations. It is compact and lightweight and graced with a wide touch screen that makes it a much sought after gadget.
The P2 is compatible with the Windows Media Player, the Rhapsody, the Winamp and more and also supports PlaysForSure and To Go music services. This gives you a wide choice for managing music, video and play lists. The Bluetooth technology allows you to connect to wireless headphones and mobile phones.
There are two parts to the P2 – the plastic face and the back metal plate. The metal plate helps minimise scratches. The touch screen provides access to all of the player’s functions, which makes navigation easy and fast. The 3-inch touch screen is scratch resistant and provides sharp images with a resolution of 480 x 272 pixels. This provides the gadget with great clarity and fine picture quality. The P2’s audio quality is impressive and based on the DNSE Sound Technology. There is a 7-band EQ preset option and a sleep timer with 15, 30, 60, 90 and 120-minute settings. A file folder allows you to separate out music as you wish.
The video support of the P2 comes with a file conversion tool. There is an alarm function with three tones and the P2 also offers you the flexibility of using the music media as an alarm sound.
The photo viewer has a zoom function and allows 4x zoom capability. Dragging a picture does take a little longer than the movement of a finger but is relatively easy. The Prime Pack menu item on the home screen features an assortment of additional features. Additionally, it opens up an avenue to look forward to more attractive additions.
The P2 is available in three colours – white, black and burgundy – with a choice of 4GB or 8GB capacity. Once fully charged, it can play up to 35 hours of audio and 5 hours of video.
