Fable is a role playing game published by Microsoft Game Studios and developed by Big Blue Box, a subsidiary of Lionhead Studios. The game was four years in the making and offers an engaging game play. The game has been released on the Xbox and PC platforms. Fable was first released in September 2004 for PC. A year later the Xbox version was released.

The unique feature of Fable is that you play from a third person’s perspective and control a character, normally called the hero of the game, from the beginning of his career right up to conquests and victories in the various levels of the game. The plot of the game is set in a period similar to the European Middle Ages. The game unfolds in a fictional village called Albion.

The objective of Fable is to earn points. Fable is developed in such a way that the player earns points by winning wars, and by killing his enemies and various non-human and human characters within the game. The hero adds to his strength by eating healthy food or using special weapons. The hero’s skill levels increase by indulging in trade and also by killing with a bow. Multiple points are awarded when he successfully hits his target, generally an enemy. These multiple points reduce when the hero is hit by the enemy.

Fable promises to be different because the player controls the character of the game. It is set in a village where the player commands the hero, controls what he does and impacts on his character. If the player commands the hero to drink an excessive amount of alcohol, he gets drunk. Events such as marriage and interacting with other characters in the game impact on the hero and build his character and reputation within the game.

In the game play, players can participate in village activities such as marriage, trading and, decorating the hero’s house. One of the best things about Fable is that each aspect of the game can be customized from the hero’s tattoos to his clothing. The clothing can include boots, jackets, gloves and belts. All these have an impact on how the hero in Fable is perceived within the game. The character evolves upon the player’s inputs. It’s a highly acclaimed game with a great music score from accomplished award-winning music directors.
