Young video game players are the target market for adorable fictional characters like Sonic the Hedgehog. Launched as the mascot of the Japanese video games company Sega, a plethora of video games have been released based on this little blue creature.
Created about 15 years ago, Sonic still retains his popularity today, with an amazing 40 game titles to his credit that has been adapted to 19 gaming platforms. Sonic provides a welcome relief from other more intense games needing complicated strategies. In Sonic Rivals Dash (only available on PSP systems), Sonic, the fastest living creature who is capable of using a supersonic boom to get himself out of trouble, takes on the notorious Dr Eggmann. Sonic games are adaptable and you can compete against an opponent or simply play to beat your own best score. Games can be played from several different angles (as different characters) or in different modes, to discover every side to the story. All of this ensures endless enjoyment and competition.
However, Sonic has not stopped at video games. He has his own comic book, DVDs, puzzles and a community site where you can submit your own Sonic artwork to be featured online. You can let your views be known on the Sonic Message Board, or play a mini game such as Sonic Rivals Dash. Two of the latest titles in the games series are Sonic Riders Zero Gravity and Sonic Rivals 2.
