The other movies of this saga were Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones and Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith . The plots of these films revolve on the life and actions of human-like creatures in a fictional galaxy. Star Wars characters like Han Solo, Darth Vader, Luke Skywalker and Princess Leia Organa are popular with both kids and adults. Most of the Star Wars video games are based on events and settings from these popular movies. Besides video games, other merchandise in this franchise includes novels, comic books, and television series.
Prominent video game designers and publishers have developed different versions of games based on the Star Wars saga. Lucas Arts Entertainment Company, a successful video game developer, has made plenty of action-packed games. This organization was set up by Lucas Film Ltd in the early 1980s as a video game development group. George Lucas wanted to diversify and jointly produce video games with Atari. George Lucas was the chairman of Lucas Arts, which has also made other adventure games over the years. There have also been several freeware games and hobbyist-designed video games based on the Star Wars saga.
The initial Star Wars video games were designed for the earliest home consoles. One of first video games was introduced for the Atari 2600. In The Empire Strikes Back, released in 1982, the player could manoeuvre a snowspeeder at The Battle of Hoth . A year later, The Return of the Jedi: Death Star Battle was launched in which the player had control over the Millenium Falcon to destroy the next Death Star. Then Atari released the Star Wars arcade game that was based on the first movie. This game simulated the famous lightsaber battle scene from the film. Now there are several space-flight simulation games, role-playing games, RTS games and first person shooter games based on this franchise. Star Wars games were launched in the early 1990s for the Nintendo Entertainment System, the Game Boy and the Sega Master System. Star Wars games have either been developed or adapted for the Playstation 2, the GameCube and the Xbox. You can play Star Wars games on your PC too.
The missions in most of these video games need to be completed by the in-game characters. Most of the game characters and settings are identical to those of the franchise. These games feature colourful graphics, enjoyable music and excellent game play for a wonderful gaming experience.
