The Simpsons Hit & Run video game belonged to the action-adventure genre and was released in 2003 for advanced gaming consoles such as the Xbox, the Nintendo GameCube and the PlayStation 2. The game is based on the sand box format in which, instead of restricting the player with strict goals, the gamer is given the liberty to explore the city of Springfield and find his own adventures. To make the game more realistic, the story and the dialogues were written by the writers of the TV show.
In 2007, EA Mobile released The Simpsons: Minutes to Meltdown , a 3D action-adventure game for mobile phones. In this game, Homer Simpson has to save the world from being destroyed by a nuclear meltdown. It is yet another enjoyable game that is loved by critics and gamers alike.
